Congressman excited to see Bears defeat West Virginia in the NCAA Tournament.
(Baltimore, MD) – Congressman Elijah E. Cummings, (MD-07) today congratulated Baltimore’s Morgan State Bears on their second straight trip to the Big Dance, the NCAA Tournament. The Bears (27-9) took down South Carolina State last week to clinch their second consecutive MEAC Championship. They will face second-seeded West Virginia on Friday in Buffalo, NY. Tip time is at 12:15.
“Coach Todd Bozeman has done a tremendous job in his four years at Morgan State University,” said Cummings. “He has prepared his players well, and they have shined, with two conference championships. All of Baltimore is proud of Morgan State, and we will be even more proud when Coach Bozeman and his Bears follow in the footsteps of Coppin State and play David to West Virginia’s Goliath.”
Coppin State University, also located in Baltimore, is one of only four 15th-seeded teams to win in the first round, defeating 2nd-seeded South Carolina in 1997.
