LT. GOVERNOR BROWN TO PRESENT $2.167 MILLION CHECK TO OXON HILL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL FOR CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (February 16, 2010) – Lt. Governor Anthony G. Brown will be joined tomorrow by Prince George’s County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. William Hite and Oxon Hill Elementary School Principal Cynthia Best-Goring for a press conference at Oxon Hill Elementary School announcing the ongoing O’Malley-Brown commitment to public K-12 education. During the press conference, Brown will present a $2.167 million ceremonial check to the school for construction projects.  Prior to the press announcement, Lt. Governor Brown will tour the elementary school and speak with Prince George’s County public school students.

In just three years, the O’Malley-Brown administration has invested over $1 billion in school construction, including $119 million in Prince George’s County – nearly $29 million more than the previous administration invested in Prince George’s County in four years. Governor O’Malley has proposed an additional $250 million for school construction in the FY11 budget, including $19 million for Prince George’s County.
