I want to see you in Charlotte

On December 9, 2011, in Blog, by Matt Verghese

You only have one day left to submit an online application to become a delegate for President Obama in Charlotte. There is so much grassroots interest in the Convention, so I want to make sure you apply to join us before the deadline next Saturday.

The President has called the 2012 Convention the “People’s Convention” because it is really about you. Yes, we will make history again as we renominate Barack Obama – but the Convention will also embody and celebrate the ideals, values and vision we share as Democrats. That is why I want you to take part in the delegate selection process.

Remember, in order to qualify to become a Maryland Delegate you must complete an online application by December 10, and file at the State Board of Elections between January 3 and January 11, 2012.

If you have any questions, check out our website or email .

The Convention in Charlotte will be a special event for the thousands who attend and the millions who will be watching. That’s why the Party is committed to running an open process that will give as many people the opportunity to participate as possible.

President Barack Obama issued the following endorsement of Senator Ben Cardin in his 2012 campaign.

Ben is one of the good guys.

He has the courage to stand up for what he believes and he works for solutions to the most important issues facing our nation. That’s why I need your help keeping Ben Cardin in the U.S. Senate.

Maryland and our country need Ben’s principled leadership to help restore economic security for the middle class. Ben has been my friend since we served together in the Senate. Together we work so that our children will have the opportunity for a quality education, our seniors will have security and dignity, and we fight for a balanced approach to our nation’s fiscal problems that protects our priorities and invests in job growth.

In the months to come, please help make the calls and knock on the doors in order to spread the message to return Ben to the U.S. Senate.

We Can’t Wait Either

On November 2, 2011, in Blog, by Matt Verghese

This week, Congress has the chance to do something about it and pass a bill that will put thousands of construction workers back to work rebuilding our roads, bridges, airports and transit systems in MD. It’s a bill that includes the kinds of ideas both parties have voted for in the past. It’s paid for, and its ideas are supported by an overwhelming majority of the American people. It’s time for Congress to act.

Watch this video from Governor O’Malley where he talks about the need topass President Obama’s plan to create jobs with investments that rebuild America’s roads, bridges and railways. The act would help us immediately advance critical infrastructure projects in Maryland while at the same time supporting at least 8,100 jobs
